Hello,
My name is Tyler Edgin. I am a senior here
at the University of Oklahoma and a Religious Studies major. I am a married
man, and have been for almost 8 months now. My wife's name is Paige. She
graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a nursing degree; she is
now a nurse in Oklahoma City. I am working at a church called Frontline Church
in downtown Oklahoma City. I also work another job at a Medical Billing office. After about 5 months of marriage my wife, whom has never had a pet before convinced me to get a cat… This was an absolutely wonderful idea! We now have a little kitten that is just lovely, and crazy, and sometimes evil, but we like her anyways. I am looking forward to graduating this year so that I can make it official seeing as I walked last year, then realizing that I did not actually finish, whoops. But now I am going to officially graduate and put college behind me. Woot Woot! This winter break my wife and I took a three-week vacation to Europe. We
traveled from Oklahoma City to Boston, and started Europe off in Paris, France.
Our other stops include: London, England; Dublin, Ireland; Rome, Italy;
Manarola, Italy; Florence, Italy; Munich, Germany; and Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
Germany. My travels have been an amazing part of my life and I am super
thankful for them. I am hoping to travel often with my wife and I am hoping,
definitely not expecting, my wife and I's travel and tidbits blog to take off,
so that maybe somehow we can get paid to travel. It's looking doubtful, but I
am very very hopeful. If you need help with places to go visit on your Europe
vacation, pick Garmisch or Manarola, they are the best.
New Year's Eve in Paris
Tyler, good to meet you! I'll start off by saying - wow! I am so jealous of how traveled you are, especially including your trip to New Year's Eve in Paris. I've only been to Paris once before, and it was marvelous. You and your wife look absolutely radiant and full of enjoyment! Thank you for your traveling recommendation - I will keep it in mind if I'm ever so lucky to be able to hop on a plane headed to Europe. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, Tyler. Though, I have to tell you right off the bat that I’ve gotten more recommendations for Munich than Garmisch-Partenkirchen. I really love travel as well, so I’ll admit that I’m somewhat envious of your winter vacation. Congratulations on your kitty as well! You and your wife make a lovely couple, and it sounds like you live very full lives. I look forward to reading your writing this semester and hope you enjoy the end of your college years.
ReplyDeleteHi again, Tyler! I am finally getting around to your Introduction with the account of all your travels: wow! I wish this class could give us the magical ability to actually visit India... but traveling on the magic flying carpet of the imagination will have to do. Although if you would like to do a travel-style Storybook for this class, you could think about where you would like to go in India, with an eye on the sacred sites, the temples, the places you will be reading about in the stories for class. What's great about the Internet is that it is full of information for travelers to any place on the planet (NatGeoTraveler is one of my favorite Twitter accounts to follow), so in addition to reading about a place like Ayodhya in the epic, you could learn about the modern city of Ayodhya, its history, and why it is a place of pilgrimage (and religious strife) even now. You can even see Ayodhya on a Google map: so cool!
ReplyDeleteHello Tyler.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture of you and your wife! What wass it like to spend New Years Eve in Paris?Congratulations on finally graduating this year - I know that it must be super exciting, because I am in the same boat :)
Why would you say Garmisch or Manarola is the best? What did you enjoy there? Your holiday trip sounds like so much fun.
Hi Tyler! You were right, we do have a lot in common. Thanks for the awesome Germany tip- I actually love to ski, so I will definitely be checking that out. Russia was AWESOME. You and your wife should totally plan a trip. My only advice would be to make sure to 1) stay at a reputable hotel and 2) a translator is a must. I went there with an OU program, so we had a driver/translator/set schedule, and honestly that was the way to do it. Everything is so confusing and it's not a place where you can just wonder around until you figure it out (like most places in Europe). I was only in St. Petersburg for 10 days, and I still feel like there was so much that I didn't get to see. I've heard Moscow is also beautiful, but that they are actively unkind to anyone who isn't Russian. But back to the safety thing- I know there are a lot of set tour groups/packages that leave from London that are great. My best friend is actually English, and many members of her family have done it. I will call and as her the exact name of the program. (but I know the fly British Airways from Heathrow straight to St. Petersburg, and have everything planned out, so you can just focus on soaking up all of the sites/history). Wow, this post got long in a hurry, so i'll stop, but please let me know if you want any other Russia tips!!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Tyler! Wow that sounds like a lot of fun to travel for that long of a period of time. I haven't ever had the opportunity to travel very much, but I'd like to one day! That is crazy that you got to graduate without knowing you weren't done! You just gave me a new fear! Haha! I am graduating this semester as well... but I HOPEFULLY already will have everything done! I look forward to reading your blog this semester!!
ReplyDeleteHi Tyler!
ReplyDeleteAwe, such a cute picture of you and your wife! I love your passion to travel, as it definitely is one of my passions as well! I think my post about places I have been can give you some insight about some of the experiences I have had! I have not been to many places in Europe, but I definitely will keep your recommendations in mind! It was nice to meet you!
Tyler,
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I loved getting to read about your traveling. I went to Italy a few years ago and Florence was my favorite. I’ll definitely have to keep garmisch and manarola for my next visit! Also, congrats on getting married and graduating in May! Cats are awesome pets! I only have one, but she sounds just like yours haha they always keep life interesting for sure!

Hi, Tyler! You and your wife make an absolutely beautiful couple! I’m so glad both of you are pursuing great things and have travelled to great places and made great memories. I have yet to visit Europe, but it’s definitely on my bucket list! Also, I can’t wait to see the rest of your blog and read your stories. By your introduction alone, you have shown so much charisma in your writing that I genuinely feel so happy after reading it all!
ReplyDeleteHi Tyler, nice to meet you. Congratulations on your recent nuptials. You and your wife look very happy together:) Also, congratulations on completing your degree. I didn't realize you could walk before actually having your credits completed. I hope to be done next May, but 1 semester of Spanish may be the deciding factor. It would be great if I could still participate in ceremony then with the stipulation of completing that class before Iget the actual paper in my hand.
ReplyDeleteYour traveling sounds wonderful. I will ask, would you have preferred to visit these places in the summer or do the both of you prefer the colder time of year? Your degree with her job will allow you to travel wherever as a couple, which can really strengthen a relationship. Congrats on the match-up you two ended up being! I hope that your travels take you where you want and keep you safe.
Nice to meet you Tyler! It's really cool that you have seen so much of Europe. As for me, I have never left the country before and the farthest east I have gone is Chicago. Hopefully one of these days I will get a chance to take a break from life and just live a care free travel life for a few weeks. I can relate with you on the cat, at first the idea sounds bad but once you get a kitten you learn that all the negative things you've heard about them are completely wrong! Looking forward to reading some of your stories, and I'm definitely adding those two places in Europe to my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteHi Tyler, nice to meet you! I am so jealous of all the traveling you got to do over break!! Everyone in my family has been to Europe except me and they always talk about how amazing it is... I have always wanted to go, and hope to some time in the near future! So I will look into your suggestions. Also, I think it's amazing that you're a religious studies major. Super cool.
ReplyDeleteWell first of all, congratulations to you you and your new spouse on a successfull marrage. I am graduating with you this may so good for us. Religious study must have been very interesting. I see a lot of new things are coming your way with all these big changes coming. I wish you and your wife well in this new journey.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your marriage, Tyler, and on graduation! Your trip to Europe sounds amazing. Hopefully your travel blog does take off, but even if it doesn’t, it’ll be worth it to be able to look back someday at the cool stuff you and Paige have gotten to see. Also, the story behind how you accidentally walked last year without technically graduating sounds like it would make for a great tale, haha. Looking forward to reading some of your stories!
ReplyDeleteHello Tyler! It is awesome that you got to travel so many places, especially in Europe. I always want to travel to Europe, but never has a chance too, but I wish to be able to do so in the future. It is cute that your wife and you get a cat. They are quite sassy sometimes haha. It is nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteHello Tyler, everything you wrote about was awesome and intriguing. I feel like everyone taking this course is either engaged or recently married, including myself. It is wonderful you enjoy traveling so much. It is something I want to do in the future also. Two places I will go in my life include Germany and Japan.
ReplyDeleteHey Tyler, it seems like you have lived a pretty cool life, as everything you wrote about was very interesting. Like the previous post said, I also feel like everybody in this course is married or engaged (minus me haha). I have always wanted to travel, yet I hate to fly. Go figure haha. Hopefully one day I'll get over that fear.
ReplyDeleteTyler, nice to meet you. Your life seems to have been very exciting and prosperous within the past year. Congratulations on the upcoming graduation and your marriage. It must be exciting to reach new milestones and begin the journey to another. You've been doing a lot of journeying. It's really exciting that you've been able to travel to so many places. I've only been abroad once so far and I loved it. I went to Italy, it was beautiful. Paris, France is next on my list. I wish you the best of luck in your blog endeavors to take off.
ReplyDeleteHey Tyler,
ReplyDeleteI think it is awesome that you and your wife have already traveled to those places. I hope my husband and I will be doing some international travel after I graduate in December of this year. We have decided to take 2 weeks after I graduate before we move to Colorado to travel somewhere cool! I have been to Germany 3 times, Paris, and China. All of that happened before I met my husband so I am hoping I can make him super interested into traveling like I am. Anyways, nice to meet you.
Hi Tyler! Congratulations on graduation! Wow, looks like you and wife are already making wonderful memories. I want to travel around Europe with my boyfriend one day. I think traveling with your significant other is a great way to bond, and make memories that are unforgettable. Plus, it’s just nice to get away from the “same old same old.” It’s nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteHi Tyler! I am also graduating in May. I have a cat as well. She is 3 years old now and she is a big fluff ball of cuteness. I have only been to countries around North and South America and I have always wanted to travel around Europe. That three week vacation sounds amazing. I bet it was beautiful. Congrats on the wedding and graduation!
ReplyDeleteHi Tyler, it is nice to meet you. That is awesome that you have been to all of those places. I am sure everyone has dreamed to go to at least one of them. I know I am very envious. It must have been a great experience. Congrats on the cat, wedding and upcoming graduation! Good luck with the rest of your semester!
ReplyDeleteHey Tyler, It's nice to meet you! I am so jealous to all of the places that you have been. I would love the opportunity to travel a lot someday.
